CHEER for Life Partners with Edgewood

CHEER for Life Foundation has named Edgewood Center for Children and Families as its primary beneficiary for 2018-19. In addition to a $20,000 grant for our Crisis Stabilization Unit, CHEER for Life Foundation will partner with Edgewood on cross-promotional events throughout the year.  CHEER for Life Foundation is the philanthropic arm of CHEER SF, the official cheerleading squad of the City and County of San Francisco.

Since opening in 2014, the Crisis Stabilization Unit has served 1,625 youth with up to 16% of them being LGBTQ+ youth who often would have nowhere else to turn when facing a mental health crisis. Last year Edgewood as a whole served more than 100 trans youth with programs designed to make LGBTQ+ individuals feel welcome and to address their unique needs.

CHEER for Life Foundation raises money year-round through events and performances by its cheerleading squads to support organizations that help at-risk individuals with life-challenging conditions. It shares a commitment with Edgewood to serve the LGBTQ+ community. It is affiliated with CHEER SF, the official cheerleading squad of the City and County of San Francisco. For over 35 years it has entertained, inspired and motivated people worldwide.

Although we serve all children, youth and families struggling with a diversity of challenges, we are often distinguished for our core capability of serving the unique mental health needs of the LGBTQ+ community. We have helped many LGBTQ+ youth overcome life-challenging conditions caused or worsened by the discrimination, stigma and oppression they experience as a result of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
