Hospital Diversion Program

Acute stabilization for youth ages 12 to 17 who have experienced a mental health crisis.

About Our Program

Hospital Diversion provides safety and stabilization to adolescents who have recently experienced a mental health crisis. The Edgewood team assesses needs and transitions youth back to lower levels of care as soon as it is safe to do so.

Hospital Diversion includes 24 hours, 7 days a week supervision and support from a multidisciplinary team of residential counselors, clinicians, and nursing/psychiatry staff. The goal is to reduce high-risk behaviors with an emphasis on developing coping strategies and crisis management skills for both youth and their caregivers.

A typical length of stay for youth is two weeks, although youth may stay less than two weeks and slightly more than two weeks based on their medical necessity and authorization by their referral source.
