The Residential Treatment Program provides longer-term residential care to youth who have had multiple mental health crises and have historically been unable to stabilize in lower levels of care. Stays typically range from 30 to 90 days for Kaiser-referred youth, and from 6 to 12 months for youth placed through a school district’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
The Residential Treatment Program is very family-focused and places an emphasis on weekly family therapy as well as progressive home visitation in order for youth and families to be able to practice skills learned at Edgewood in a more natural setting. We work with youth to reduce high-risk behaviors with an emphasis on developing coping strategies and crisis management skills for both youth and their caregivers.

Youth in the Residential Program also spend time in the community to practice utilizing skills outside of the therapeutic milieu environment, which helps support a smooth transition home.
Youth in this program will be enrolled in school while they are at Edgewood Center and receive individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and medication management.
