Community Based Resource and Peer Support for Transitional Age Youth in San Mateo County

Edgewood’s Transitional Age Youth Drop-in Centers offer accessible, low-barrier support and engagement opportunities for TAY youth, ages 18 to 25, throughout San Mateo County.

Both on-site and mobile programs are designed to meet young adults’ needs for connection, stability, and community-based resources. Services are led by Peer Partners—young adults with lived experience who facilitate groups and activities, offer mentorship, and foster a welcoming, nonjudgmental atmosphere.

Services Offered

Recreational Programming & Life Skills Groups

Structured and informal activities to foster social connection, skills development, and personal growth.

Peer Support

One-on-one and group opportunities to access mentorship, advocacy, and mutual aid from trained young adult Peer Partners.

Resource & Basic Needs Access

  • Computer/internet access
  • Food and clothing closet
  • Links to housing, employment, educational support, and health resources

Mental Health and Wellness Workshops

Mental health and wellbeing educational programs and facilitated groups to support self-care, coping, social-emotional learning, and overall health and wellness.

No Referral or Insurance Required

Open access for all youth ages 18 to 25. No clinical diagnosis or referral required.

Who We Help

  • Any youth aged 18 to 25 seeking support, community connection, or access to basic resources. This includes, but is not limited to Transitional Age Youth Full Service Partnership clients and youth engaged with other area behavioral health providers.
  • Particularly impactful for youth with limited family/community support, unstable housing, or those at risk of isolation or disengagement from traditional services.

Program Goals

Transitional Age Youth TAY Drop-In Centers seek to:

  • Provide a safe, inclusive environment where young adults feel respected and supported
  • Increase life skills, coping strategies, and resilience via evidence-informed workshops and peer activities
  • Support basic needs stability such as housing, food, clothing, and technology access
  • Promote social connection and reduce isolation through community integration
  • Facilitate accessing supplemental clinical or social services as needed
