Edgewood Joins the SF Giants

Advocating for Mental Health

On May 4, Edgewood was proud to participate in Unifying Mental Health Advocacy, a pregame reception hosted by the San Francisco Giants on Monday, May 4.

The event brought together mental health experts, advocates, and community organizations united around a shared mission: engaging the broader community in meaningful conversations about mental health. Among the highlights was a “Meet the Movement” segment, where guests were invited to move through the space and connect directly with the nonprofits and community partners doing this work every day.

All gathered for a collective time to hear Dr. Shana Alexander speak passionately about how vital mental health work is in sports and beyond. Shana serves as the Director of Mental Health & Wellness & EAP for the Giants. Shana introduced Drew Robinson, a former SF Giants player and suicide survivor.

Drew gave a presentation about his commitment to helping other athletes and the broader community reduce stigma, connect with players and others, and increase overall mental health awareness and access to resources. As the SF Giants’ full-time mental health advocate, he champions therapy and encourages people to talk openly about their mental health.

Edgewood was honored to be featured as one of the Giants’ mental health-focused nonprofit partners. Our team had the opportunity to share resources, provide information about our services, and most importantly, talk with attendees about the mental health needs of youth and families across the Bay Area.’

Events like this remind us that advancing mental health awareness takes a community. We’re grateful to the San Francisco Giants for creating space to elevate the organizations on the front lines of this work, and to everyone who stopped by to learn more about what we do at Edgewood.
