Staying Connected While Social Distancing
Dear Edgewood partners and supporters,
We wanted to give you an update on what is happening at Edgewood across all facets of the agency.
At Edgewood, our primary focus remains the health and safety of the children, youth and families we serve and our dedicated staff teams. During this crisis, we remain committed to providing critical mental and behavioral health services to our community.
We have established a COVID-19 Safety Monitoring Work-Group that is meeting daily to review and update our policies and procedures based on current recommendations for the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), the San Mateo County Health Department, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure that we are addressing and mitigating risk to the best of our ability.
Changes we’ve made:
- We have suspended all drop-in services across the agency.
- In conjunction with our nursing team and Medical Director we have developed additional screening procedures for youth entering our residentially-based programs.
- We are developing contingency plans to maintain essential staff coverage due to school closures or if illness dramatically impacts our workforce.
- Agency/Program tours and our volunteer program have been temporarily paused.
- We are providing options for remote work so that our staff can work from home when possible.
- Pivoting from an in-person event to a virtual event for the 54th Annual Edgewood Fair.
Things you can do to keep yourself and those around you safe:
- Know the facts about COVID-19 so you can help flatten the curve and reduce the risk of infection.
- Frequently and thoroughly washing your hands with soap and water.
- Practice physical distancing – not social distancing – make it a point to connect through email, text messaging, and video chatting.

- Free Meals Available During School Closure: SFUSDwill provide free meals to all children 18 and younger during the school closure. No identification or proof of school enrollment is required, but a child must be present. https://www.sfusd.edu/services/health-wellness/nutrition-school-meals
We will continue to assess the situation as it develops and evolves. While the next couple of weeks are going to be a challenge, one thing is for sure, we will get through this together.
